“I had heard all sorts of good stuff about Jamie Waller, before he took me under his wing back as an under 13, and it was only 30 seconds into my first training session with him when I began to understand what everyone was raving about! Jamie helped me through probably the hardest time I’ve ever had as a footballer. All his sessions were planned exquisitely & every tactic seemed just right. His banter was the stand-out thing about him though and, even a few years on, he’s still able to have a laugh and a joke with the lads – but don’t get me wrong, if you step out of line he’ll tell you. But he naturally has that balance that lots of other coaches have to work for years to perfect!
The most important thing I’ve got to say to Jamie right now is a big thank you for that year that you took me on and brought my confidence and ability right back up to where it needed to be.

It was actually at a school football trial where I first came across Jamie and it was from there that I must have impressed. He was the one who recommended for me to sign to Crystal Palace as an u12 without a trial to begin my first ever experience at a professional club, and for that I’ll be forever thankful. He was my coach for 2 years at Palace and also for a couple of years at my School. To this day I still think he is one of the best coaches that I have worked under. His sessions were always enjoyable and concentrated a lot on technical aspects which I used to find very helpful. He also actively made an effort to try and improve all the players that were involved in the session. I fully believe that any player that is working under Jamie & his academy Unique FA is in good and trustworthy hands!

“When I first came to Unique FA as a 13 year old, I had trialled at a few pro clubs and always done well, but not quite enough to get me signed. At Unique I learned to check my shoulders constantly and stay focused throughout the game. I learned movement off of players e.g long to short; short to long. My range of passing got better along with awareness before receiving the ball. All these things got me a scholarship at Leyton Orient, so thank you very much Jamie and all the coaches who helped me.
